Jesus promises to hear and answer if we pray in His name. This means approaching Him on the basis of what Christ has done, not anything we have done, and praying in accordance with what His name stands for. We cannot pray for what is not His will. It’s His will for us to be holy and overcome temptation. We are encouraged to pray for our daily bread. By prayer we bring God glory. It is exhausting living to bring ourselves glory.
