Bible Text: 1 Samuel 2:11-36 | Preacher: James Allan | Series: 1 Samuel | In addition to the absence of discipline, Israel lacked Godly leadership. Hophni and Phineas were bullies and immoral. Church officers can raise or lower the spiritual temperature of a congregation. However, this was no excuse for Israel. There were still Godly people. Hannah fulfilled her vow and was blessed. It’s not OK for only some Christians to pursue holiness. There is also something present: God is still at work, preparing Samuel. The old is replacing the new. God promises to raise up a faithful priest, with the death of Eli’s  sons as confirmation. He is always present, either to bless or to judge. When under judgement, we need a priest. There is one Priest who will make intercession forever. He will honour those who honour Him.
