David’s sin escalated quickly. The world is awash with evil, and even the redeemed man can fall into sin. By taking his ease instead of doing his duty in battle, he allowed himself to be tempted. God’s response is grace as He takes the initiative instead of David. There is forgiveness but also consequences. A son of David dies as a substitute.
