This is my Body
In the institution of the Lord’s Supper, Jesus turned an ordinary event into something extraordinary. What did He mean when He said, “This is my body?” This has been a bone of contention in the church. It is just a symbol; Jesus was speaking figuratively. He invites us to come and eat, though we are unworthy. He humbled Himself in the incarnation, was anointed, and suffered in the crucifixion, that we might be brought near to God.
