The Origin of Christmas Part 5: Different Responses
Bible Text: Matthew 2:1-12 | Preacher: James Allan | Series: Christmas 2018 | There are many today who will not come and worship Christ the newborn king. We are all little Herods. We don’t like the thought of others ruling over us. The second response is that of the rest of Jerusalem who were also troubled. Their concern was likely Herod’s reaction and how it would affect them. People worry about how following Christ will affect them rather than whether it is true. The third reaction is that of the chief priests and scribes. They give Herod the right answers. We don’t read of any of them being there in Bethlehem or going with the Magi to see for themselves. They don’t seem excited but remain in Jerusalem. The fourth response is that of the Magi. They gave Him expensive gifts because here was the King.
