The Merest of Breaths
Bible Text: Ecclesiastes 1:1-2 | Preacher: James Allan | Series: Ecclesiastes | People throughout history seem to have recognised that time hasn’t been conquered; it evades us. Man is like a breath. This is the theme of Ecclesiastes: all is vanity (the sense of the word is a breath). The older we get, the more aware we are of the passing of time. We can’t control it or keep it. Things come our way that we can’t control. The last verse of the book shows that what matters is to fear God and live for His glory.
NOTE: This sermon was part of a pre-recorded video service for the church to watch at home due to the coronavirus outbreak. The original video including recorded Hebron congregational singing and a children’s talk can be found here.
