The people blame David for the Amalekites’ burning of Ziklag and taking the people captive, and they want to stone him. We see God’s persevering grace as He is in our troubles and works them for our sanctification, even when we go astray. We see His providential grace as David and his men happen to come across this Egyptian who leads them to the Amalekites. This grace is contagious: if we have experienced it we will dispense it, as David did to the 200 men who stayed behind.
