This Psalm is more personal than the previous ones Jesus would have sung at the Passover. The Psalmist was delivered from the fear of death by calling on God who is gracious and merciful. After singing this Psalm, Jesus was obedient in going to the cross. Because of that we too can cry out to the Lord and know deliverance. Salvation is freely given; all we do is receive it.
