There are depths to the Scriptures that we can never plumb. The words of the Bible are the words of God. At the Diet of Worms, Luther confessed he could do no other than trust in the Scriptures alone. His problems arose because tradition and the words of the Pope carried more authority than the Scriptures. We live in very different days but the issue is the same; people don’t want the Bible as their authority.
