Here is a picture of the nation of Israel in ruin, decimated by Assyria. Ultimately it’s is the Lord’s doing, disciplining His people. In the midst of awful circumstances, this Psalm is wonderfully full of hope. God shepherds His people and has made a way for sin to be dealt with through the Son.
