Jonathan sees this for the foolish thing it is. The big problem is that the oath leads the people to sin. It’s a tragedy that Saul was more willing to kill his son than confess his sin. Sin enslaves us. The right reaction is to confess and go to Christ for cleansing. He will not turn us away.
