The seven letters to the churches of Asia are in effect one letter for all the churches including churches today. The church at Ephesus is praised for working hard. It is a challenge and a comfort that Christ sees our work for the gospel. They are also praised for being discerning and enduring in the place of idolatry and immorality. When we stand firm, Christ knows that we are doing it for Him. However, they seem to have lost their love of witnessing to Him in the world.
