The Christian is an heir, looking forward to what we will receive: God Himself. It’s not about our desires; He will be all in all. We are promised crowns and the end of pain and suffering, all because we are fellow heirs with Christ. He is an heir because He is the Son of God. Paul adds something: following Christ will entail a suffering unique to being a Christian. We endure it because of the glory to come.
