Nebuchadnezzar was responsible for his own sin in conquering Judah, but behind it is God’s sovereign hand. God is faithful to His promise to Hezekiah that the treasures and people would be carried away because he placed his trust in Babylon instead of in God. He always brings about His word, both comforting and threatening promises. This God is willing to suffer shame, as Christ did on the cross.
