Bible Text: John 20:1-10 | Preacher: James Allan | In the Greek there are three different words translated “saw” in this passage. John observes the situation and sees no body. How could the disciples have stolen the body or why would the authorities have done so? Peter arrives and takes a closer look, trying to understand it. If the authorities had stolen the body all they needed to do was present it, but they could not. John goes in and understands that Jesus is risen, although he hasn’t grasped the necessity of the resurrection. Jesus was raised for our justification, to bring us peace with God.
