Faced with Ishbosheth’s accusation, Abner reaches out to David, but with the wrong motive. We must search our hearts and check our motives. David’s response is a shrewd political move. He actually does very little but the end result is peace and the kingdom coming to him by the actions of evil Abner. There are times when we have to patiently wait for the Lord as we persevere in the work of the kingdom.
