A License to Sin?
Bible Text: Romans 6:1-2 | Preacher: James Allan | Series: Romans | If salvation is by grace, can the Christian do whatever he likes and enjoy sin? Wherever the gospel is truly preached, this accusation has been and will be made. This is unthinkable because the Christian has died to sin. Not that we are completely dead and unresponsive to sin (Paul writes with imperatives; it must therefore be possible for the Christian to do the thing he commands not to do) but he is referring to our lifestyle. A slave is bound to obey but the Christian does not have to obey sin. Although we find the temptation intense, we need to believe this as it brings us hope; the battle can be won!
