Because Jesus had given the disciples the Father’s word, they are transformed people. The world hates them because the fact they are different upsets people’s consciences. Jesus does not pray for them to be taken out of the world. We may be weary of this world, but the disciples had a mission to complete, and there is work we can do for the kingdom. Jesus prays for them to be sanctified; set apart for the work. We are sanctified by the word.
