David’s lamentation gives expression to his grief, and there is benefit to learning it. We can use these words to deal with our grief. David prefigures Christ who also helps give expression to our grief. Jesus wept at the grave of Lazarus. This assures us that it is legitimate to grieve. He also raised Lazarus, and He will bring His people to Himself. Death does not win.
