The things prophesied from verse 36 onwards were not fulfilled by Antiochus Epiphanes but match the description of the antichrist or man of lawlessness who will appear before the return of Christ, as described in the New Testament. He comes to his end with no-one to help him. Jesus brings him to nothing simply by His appearance. We will suffer for being a Christian but the outcome is certain: The Lord Jesus Christ wins.
