When people don’t fear consequences they have a lot to say, but Paul says every mouth will be stopped. Paul anticipated arguments, because they are the very arguments he used to use. He is telling the nations to stop speaking and to be still and know He is God. We will not be able to convince God of our innocence. If we have read or heard the Word of God we cannot say we never knew we’d have to give an account or that our sin really mattered.
