Jesus says we should be on the edge of our seats and will go on to tell three parables because of the scribes and Pharisees murmuring over His receiving tax collectors and sinners. What mattered to them was external appearance. They thought they were righteous and well, but they were sick. Every part of us is spoiled by sin, and our greatest need is forgiveness.
