Bible Text: 1 Samuel 17 | Preacher: David Jones | Israel had the promises of God but were terrified of Goliath. It’s easy for us to be afraid of the giants we face: the world’s assault on Christian morality (morality is based in God, and real right and wrong exist regardless of our opinions) and the world’s assault on Christianity as the only way of salvation. We shouldn’t be arrogant or offensive but should have a deep love for those of all faiths and none in telling them that their eternal destiny is at stake. Saul put his armour on David but he needed God’s power instead. The church has forgotten the power of the cross is what causes the church to grow. We can’t conjure it up but we must not be passive either. We need to read and pray.
