Jesus Bears Our Infirmities Physically, Savingly and Prospectively
Bible Text: Matthew 8:16-17 | Preacher: Hywel George | Matthew says this one event is a special occasion, fulfilling a prophecy of Isaiah. However, this prophecy also applies to us. Jesus bears our infirmities physically like a parent feels their child’s sickness. He knows our frame because He shares the same. We need to keep in mind His humanity and suffering when we pray. He bears them savingly; not stopping at our aches and pains but going all the way to bearing our sins. He bears them prospectively, in preparation for the future. The power of the cross grows greater as more people turn to Christ. When He returns, what was paid for at Calvary will be known. There will be no more effects of sin.
